Nepal Health News, Kathmandu – Kidney transplant services have officially started at Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj, Banke from today. The hospital's Chief and Medical Superintendent, Dr. Nirajan Subedi, informed that kidney transplantation has been initiated at the hospital for the first time.
Today, two patients successfully underwent kidney transplants. A 14-member team, including Dr. Pukar Chandra Shrestha, Director of Shahid Dharmabhakta National Transplant Center, arrived in Nepalgunj to carry out the procedures.
With the launch of this service, patients will no longer need to travel elsewhere for kidney transplants, according to Dr. Subedi. Currently, around 20 to 25 kidney patients undergo dialysis at Bheri Hospital daily.
Chairperson of the Bheri Hospital Management Committee, Birendra Bahadur Shah, stated that the introduction of kidney transplant services is a major achievement for the hospital and has brought new hope for treatment to the patients.
