Intensifying Discontent Among Resident Doctors, Ministry Encirclement Planned

Nepal Health News, Kathmandu – Although the government has decided to provide a living allowance equivalent to that of eighth-level government employees, resident doctors working in private medical colleges have not yet received the benefits, leading to growing protests among the medical community. In this context, doctors from across the country, including the Kathmandu Valley, have announced a series of protest programs.

To pressure Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel—who also serves as the Vice-Chairperson of the Medical Education Commission—plans have been made to surround the Ministry in Kathmandu and the District Administration Offices in various districts.

According to a notice issued by the doctors' network, on Baisakh 11 (April 23), doctors across the country will stage demonstrations in front of their respective District Administration Offices from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. In the capital, doctors will gather at Maitighar Mandala at 11:30 AM on the same day and then proceed to encircle the Ministry of Health.

Through this movement, the doctors aim to compel the government to fully implement the concerned decision.
