Nepal Health News, Okhaldhunga – A private medical store in Rumjatar, Okhaldhunga district, has been sealed by a joint team from the Okhaldhunga District Administration Office and the Department of Drug Administration, Biratnagar, after it was found selling medicines meant for free distribution by the Government of Nepal.
The action was taken after government-supplied medicines were discovered for sale at Padma Medical Hall, which is owned by Ahmed Mansuri, the Chief of the Okhaldhunga Health Office. According to Assistant Chief District Officer Goma Devi Dhakal, the monitoring team found clear evidence that free government medicines were being stored at the medical store located in Siddhicharan Municipality–4, leading to its immediate sealing.
Local residents have alleged that Chief Mansuri has been selling government medicines through his own private medical store. However, Mansuri has claimed he had no knowledge about the inspection. He has previously faced allegations of misusing government health supplies.
Similarly, Shrestha Medical, located in Siddhicharan Municipality–12, was also found in possession of illegal drugs. The same inspection team sealed this medical store after finding that it was selling medicines without a doctor’s prescription, selling veterinary drugs, and distributing pesticides without authorization.
According to Assistant CDO Dhakal, Shrestha Medical had previously faced action due to illegal activities. She confirmed that legal proceedings are being initiated for the current violations, and those involved will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
