A new hope for kidney treatment in Tanahu with dialysis services in Shuklagandaki

Nepal Health News, Tanahu: Dialysis services have been launched in Shuklagandaki Municipality targeting kidney patients. With this new service, patients in this area no longer have to travel to Damauli or Pokhara for treatment.

The dialysis unit, established at the GP Koirala Respiratory Treatment Center in Belchautara, Shuklagandaki-5, was inaugurated by Health and Population Minister Pradeep Poudel. Since the service began, 30 patients have already registered, and currently, seven machines are in operation at the center.

To make this project successful, Shuklagandaki Municipality, the Ministry of Health, various Lions Clubs, and local organizations have collaborated. With the launch of the dialysis service, kidney patients from areas like Bhimad, Magde, Rishing, Ghiring, and Harinas in Syangja will now have easier access to treatment.

Previously, such services were only available at limited locations in the district, which forced patients to wait for their turn. Now, the GP Koirala Center will be able to provide services to local residents as well as those from neighboring districts.

The government plans to develop this center into one of the best respiratory treatment facilities in South Asia, and a large area of land has been allocated for this purpose.
