Nepal Health News, Kathmandu – The government has introduced significant policy decisions in the health sector. Through the upcoming fiscal year's policy and program, it has been announced that the HPV vaccine will be included in the regular immunization program to prevent cervical cancer in women. Additionally, free cancer treatment services will be provided to children under 14 years of age.
Presenting the policy and program in Parliament on Friday, President Ramchandra Paudel emphasized the government's priority to expand access to health services. According to him, the month of Falgun every year will be declared as Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Screening Month, during which special awareness campaigns will be conducted. Alongside this, cancer and kidney transplant services will be expanded at the provincial level.
It has also been stated that more effective programs will be implemented for pregnant and postpartum women in remote areas. Moreover, free healthcare services for senior citizens have been included in the policy and program.
To strengthen healthcare infrastructure, the government has also proposed the establishment of a state-of-the-art Neuroscience Center equipped with modern technology, which is expected to facilitate the treatment of complex brain-related diseases.
