Health insurance renewal is now possible on mobile

By linking your insurance account in the Nagarik app, you can renew it from your mobile

Nepal Health News, Kathmandu: The health insurance renewal process has now been made easier and more digital. The Health Insurance Board has introduced a facility that allows renewals through mobile wallets like eSewa, Khalti, and Connect IPS.

By linking their insurance account in the Nagarik app, users can renew their insurance directly from their mobile phones. This eliminates the hassle of visiting service centers and allows payments to be made at users’ convenience.

Under the initiative of Minister of Health and Population Pradeep Paudel, new rules have been implemented to improve insurance services. Previously, after registering for insurance, users had to wait at least three months to receive services, but this period has now been reduced to one month.

Although plans for online renewal had been made earlier, they were not practically implemented. According to Information Officer Bikkesh Mall, now that the service is available, many citizens will be able to renew their insurance immediately.

The Board expects a significant increase in renewal rates through this new facility, as the previous system—limited to agents—had caused difficulties for service users.
