CT Scan Service Begins at Scheer Memorial Adventist Hospital After 65 Years

Nepal Health News, Kavrepalanchok: Scheer Memorial Adventist Hospital, the oldest healthcare institution in Kavrepalanchok district, has officially launched its CT scan service 65 years after its establishment. A state-of-the-art 128-slice CT scan machine has been installed and brought into operation at the hospital.

The machine was purchased at a cost of USD 460,000, bringing the total investment, including a generator and other essential equipment, to approximately NPR 75 million.

According to the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Hector Gairus, the machine was procured with the special coordination and support of the Rotary Foundation, Rotary Club of Kupondole, and Rotary Club of Kavrepalanchok through a global grant. Various Rotary members, clubs, organizations, and individuals contributed to the funding.

“This machine will be a lifesaver for patients in Kavrepalanchok and surrounding districts,” said Dr. Gairus. “Previously, due to the lack of CT scan services, patients were forced to travel to Kathmandu for diagnosis.”

In a remarkable display of solidarity, doctors and staff working at the hospital donated one month’s salary to support the operation of the new machine. This gesture reflects a strong sense of teamwork and commitment to service within the hospital.

The hospital currently has a capacity of 150 beds. Previously, it had also launched dialysis services with support from Rotary. The newly installed CT scan service will now be regularly available to the public. Dr. Gairus has expressed the hospital’s commitment to provide services even to financially disadvantaged patients.

The CT scan service was officially inaugurated by Bagmati Province Assembly Member Kanchan Chandra Bade during a formal event. The program was attended by local representatives, doctors, Rotary Club members, and hospital staff.
