A 32-year-old man died due to rabies

Nepal Health News, Chitwan – A 32-year-old man named Min Bahadur Praja, a resident of Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality–2, has died due to a rabies infection. He had been bitten by a dog a few months ago, and due to delayed treatment, he lost his life.

According to Gopal Paudel, the information officer at Bharatpur Hospital, Praja passed away during treatment at the hospital. He was admitted only on Wednesday, but the infection had already become severe, making treatment unsuccessful.

It is believed that Praja did not take immediate precautions such as getting vaccinated or seeking necessary care after the dog bite. Rabies is a deadly viral infection that is usually transmitted to humans through the bite of an infected animal. If not treated on time, the infection can be fatal.

Health professionals have urged the public to take the risk of rabies seriously. They emphasized that in the event of a dog or other animal bite, one must immediately visit the nearest health facility and receive the required vaccination.

This incident highlights the continued lack of awareness about rabies in rural areas and how the absence of timely treatment can pose a serious risk to lives.
