Free surgical services have started at Matatirtha Hospital in Chandragiri

NEPAL Health News, Kathmandu. Chandragiri Municipality-8's Matatirtha Ayurvedic and Alternative Medicine Hospital has begun offering surgical services. From now on, traditional methods such as Panchakarma and Kshar Sutra will also include surgical procedures to enhance their effectiveness at this hospital.

According to the hospital's chief, Dr. Narayan Acharya, a new surgery room has been built with an investment of approximately ten lakh rupees. Along with the surgery room, necessary beds for patients have also been arranged. In the initial phase, surgeries will be conducted once a week, with plans to expand the services based on demand.

Chandragiri Municipal Mayor, Ghanashyam Giri, while inaugurating the surgery room, stated that the municipality aims to advance both allopathic and Ayurvedic treatment systems together. According to him, health services of this kind are prioritized under the "Healthy Municipality, Healthy Citizens" campaign.

Ward Chairperson Pralhad Rizal shared that the hospital's services will gradually expand. The program was attended by municipal spokesperson Krishna Prasad Khadgi, Ward No. 15 Chairperson and Social Development Committee Coordinator Ghanashyam Luintel, and Ward No. 13 Chairperson Shrikrishna Khatri, among others.

Chief Administrative Officer Surendra Thapa Magar mentioned that the services will be expanded in a planned manner and that the municipality has given this initiative high priority.

The hospital currently provides daily OPD services and weekly specialist services. Dr. Acharya mentioned that surgeries for diseases like piles, fistula, and fissures, as well as pre-treatment services under the five Panchakarma methods—Vaman, Virechan, Vasti, Nasya, and Rakta Mokshan—will also be conducted.

The hospital also has an herbal garden and is running community programs related to sanitation, first aid, and health education, as well as mobile health camps. Dr. Acharya added that there are plans to make the services more systematic and of better quality in the future.
