Vision Restored in Hatuwagadhi: 73 Free Eye Surgeries Conducted in Just Two Days

Nepal Health News, Bhojpur – A two-day eye treatment camp held in Ghodetar, located in Hatuwagadhi Rural Municipality of Bhojpur district, successfully conducted eye surgeries on 73 individuals. A total of 305 people received eye check-up services during the camp.

The camp was organized in coordination with the Hatuwagadhi Eye Treatment Center under the Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh. Free surgeries were provided for patients suffering from cataracts and pterygium (fleshy growth in the eye). The camp was conducted with technical support from Rani Eye Hospital in Biratnagar, offering local residents the benefit of receiving treatment in their own area.

According to Rural Municipality Chairperson Prem Kumar Rai, such services have been a relief for economically disadvantaged people. "It is difficult for poor families to travel to cities for treatment, so having this kind of facility in the village itself is very helpful," he stated.

Highlighting the effectiveness of the camp, Vijay Tamang, head of the Hatuwagadhi Eye Treatment Center, said the involvement of expert doctors was a key factor in the camp’s success. “Due to the active participation of doctors, many were able to receive treatment easily,” he added. “These camps have brought light into the lives of many citizens who were deprived of eye care due to financial constraints.
