To reduce the infant mortality rate, special training for health workers has begun in Banke

Nepal Health News, Nepalgunj – In light of the high neonatal mortality rate in Banke district, a special training program has been launched targeting health workers at local health institutions with the aim of reducing this rate.

According to the Health Office Banke, doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff working in various basic health centers and posts across the district are being provided with "Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illness (IMNCI)" training.

According to one of the training facilitators, Public Health Inspector Devnarayan Upadhyay, this training, which began on Wednesday, is a significant step toward reducing infant mortality.

Public Health Nurse Bishnu Shrestha shared that the participating health workers will be equipped with skills and knowledge related to primary treatment, identification, care, and management of complications in newborns. The long-term goal of the training is to reduce the infant mortality rate.

The six-day training includes participation from 24 health workers in the district. Facilitators include pediatric specialist Dr. Pratima Khadka from Bheri Hospital, Nursing Inspectors Sanju Rijal and Tara Acharya, and Public Health Inspector Naveen Budhakshetri.

The training was officially inaugurated by Naresh Shrestha, Acting Chief of the Health Office Banke
