More than 1.7 billion rupees in irregularities found in agencies under the Ministry of Health

Nepal Health News, Kathmandu:The 62nd annual report by the Office of the Auditor General has revealed a significant amount of financial irregularities under the Ministry of Health and Population and its subordinate agencies. According to the report, a total of NPR 1.709 billion (1 billion 70 crore 95 lakh 64 thousand) remains to be settled across various government and non-government entities affiliated with the ministry.

As per the report, in the case of government offices, a total of NPR 300.346 million (30 crore 3 lakh 46 thousand) in irregularities was initially found in 16 agencies. After preliminary clarifications were submitted, NPR 64.346 million (6 crore 43 lakh 46 thousand) was settled. The remaining NPR 236 million (23 crore 60 lakh) is still unresolved.

Similarly, among organized institutions, committees, and other non-government entities, an initial irregularity of NPR 1.531 billion (1 billion 53 crore 12 lakh 75 thousand) was reported. After preliminary responses, about NPR 57.711 million (5 crore 77 lakh 11 thousand) has been settled. However, NPR 1.473 billion (1 billion 47 crore 35 lakh 64 thousand) still remains unsettled.

According to the report, of the remaining amount, NPR 267.827 million (26 crore 78 lakh 27 thousand) is tied up in expired advance accounts, which also have yet to be cleared.
