Nepal Health News, Dang – Rapti Institute of Health Sciences, located in Dang, has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming a zero-arrears institution in the fiscal year 2080/81 (2023/24). According to the institute’s Registrar, Prof. Dr. Shyam Lamsal, this achievement is the result of responsible management in both service delivery and financial transparency.
As per the audit report of the Office of the Auditor General, while arrears amounting to tens of millions of rupees were recorded in previous years, this year’s audit confirmed that there were no arrears at all. Despite a significant increase in financial transactions, not a single rupee was found to be unaccounted for—demonstrating the institute's adherence to financial discipline and procedural compliance.
Registrar Lamsal stated that all expenditure and income-related operations were carried out strictly in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and procedures. This compliance is what made such a commendable outcome possible.
In the past fiscal year, the institute earned more than NPR 660 million and spent around NPR 560 million. Significant progress was also made in the academic sector: 30 students are enrolled in the nursing program, 40 in B.Sc., and 50 in MBBS. Furthermore, postgraduate programs are being run in 8 disciplines—including MD, MS, and M.Sc. Nursing—with 15 seats allocated, ensuring the delivery of quality education at the postgraduate level.
This success is seen not only in terms of profit and loss but also as a model of excellent management and transparency achievable within a public institution.
