Nepal Health News, Panchthar – Fidim Municipality is set to organize a special health camp for the screening of breast and cervical cancer among women. According to the municipality, the camp will be conducted at Panchthar Hospital on Jestha 9 and 10 (Nepali calendar) with the support of specialist doctors and technicians from Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital.
The initiative to expand this year’s services and screening coverage comes after signs of cervical cancer were detected in 37 out of around 1,000 women who participated in the HPV screening conducted by the municipality last year.
Mayor Mitra Prasad Kafle informed that additional services like video X-ray and ultrasound will also be available during this camp. According to him, the goal is to screen approximately 2,000 women for breast and cervical cancer.
According to Health Section Chief Om Prakash Yadav, breast cancer screening will also be provided for men. He stated that the services have been expanded based on last year’s experience and urged residents to take advantage of this opportunity by participating in the camp.
