Nepal Health News, Kathmandu – Rastriya Prajatantra Party lawmaker Bina Lama has drawn the government’s attention to the need for providing nutritious food and snacks for security personnel (orderlies) working in the Parliament building.
Speaking at Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, MP Lama remarked that the government seems indifferent to the health and nutrition of the orderlies who are deployed from early morning until evening to ensure the safety of the lawmakers. She expressed concern that these personnel are not provided with any snacks, meals, or allowances, and emphasized that their silent service deserves proper recognition.
“They stand from 7 a.m. to evening for our security,” said MP Lama. “Yet, they cannot raise their voice, nor can they protest. It is unfortunate that even basic snacks are not arranged for them while they continue to serve silently.”
MP Lama urged the government to immediately ensure the provision of nutritious food and snacks to maintain the health and morale of the orderlies. Her statement has sparked a serious discussion within Parliament regarding the social security and welfare of the security personnel and orderlies who serve within its premises.
