Nepal Health News, Kathmandu – Sher Bahadur Kunwar, a Member of Parliament from the CPN (Unified Socialist), has expressed serious concern over the rising cost of healthcare for ordinary citizens. Speaking during Tuesday's zero hour in the House of Representatives, he drew attention to what he described as state negligence.
According to MP Kunwar, even those who have dedicated their lives to the country's democratic movement, as well as former representatives, are being ignored by the government when it comes to medical treatment. He specifically mentioned the deteriorating health condition of former MP Govindanath Upreti, who was elected multiple times from the Kavre district and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. Kunwar expressed strong dissatisfaction, stating that Upreti has not received the necessary support from the state.
MP Kunwar also voiced concern over recent weather-related incidents across the country, particularly strong winds that have caused damage. He cited a case in Kailali where one person lost their life due to windstorms. He emphasized that the government must take immediate steps to mitigate damages from such natural disasters in the future.
He stated, “Healthcare must be accessible to all. But in the current scenario, it has become out of reach even for ordinary citizens and individuals who have made significant contributions. The state must take responsibility for the treatment of people like former MP Upreti.
