Collaboration between UNFPA and Manakamana Darshan in the campaign against gender-based violence

Nepal Health News, Kathmandu – UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) and Manakamana Darshan Pvt. Ltd. have entered into a formal partnership with the goal of reducing gender-based violence and raising public awareness.

At an event held in Kathmandu on Tuesday, UNFPA representative Yoon Young Hong and Yeshu Shrestha from Manakamana Darshan Pvt. Ltd. signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

Under this partnership, both organizations will collaborate for the next two years to provide women and adolescent girls with information, support, and opportunities for recovery related to gender-based violence.

Manakamana Darshan Pvt. Ltd. will disseminate information about gender-based violence through posters, pamphlets, and audio-visual materials at its service centers, such as ticket counters. This initiative is expected to help service users easily access resources, services, and information about their rights if they experience violence.

Another key aspect of the partnership is to economically empower survivors of violence and link them to livelihood opportunities. Programs will be conducted in coordination with local labor markets and business institutions to achieve this.

Following the agreement, UNFPA representative Hong stated that the private sector can play a vital role in social transformation campaigns. She emphasized the importance of private sector involvement in promoting equality and safety.

Similarly, Yeshu Shrestha of Manakamana Darshan said that collaborating with UNFPA to create a safe environment for women and girls aligns with the company's social responsibility.

Both parties expressed confidence that this collaboration will serve as a model for strengthening the role of the private sector in achieving national goals related to ending gender-based violence and contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
