Nepal Health News, Kathmandu: Nepal has been unanimously elected as a member of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO) during its recently concluded 78th World Health Assembly. Held in Geneva, the assembly elected Nepal as a representative of the South-East Asia region for a three-year term.
With this opportunity to represent Nepal in this position, Minister for Health and Population, Pradeep Paudel, hailed the achievement as historic and offered his congratulations. "This is an excellent opportunity for us to showcase our good health practices on an international platform and to adopt successful practices from other countries," said Minister Paudel. He also extended congratulations to all the people of Nepal for this success.
During its term, Nepal is preparing to place special focus on the health security of migrant workers. According to Minister Paudel, Nepal plans to present a proposal at next year’s assembly that will hold employers accountable for the health of their workers.
"This initiative will make a substantial contribution to the health security of not only Nepali but workers around the world," he expressed with confidence.
