Nepal Health News — The third national conference organized by the National Medical Association Nepal began in Chitwan on Friday. The association had announced all preparations for the two-day event during a press conference held in Kathmandu on Thursday.
According to the association’s president, Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, the main agenda of the conference is to elect new leadership for the organization. He stated that the association has been continuously active in advocating for the rights and professional interests of doctors, and has been pressuring the state to create a favorable environment for healthcare professionals to work within the country.
Advisor Dr. Krishna Adhikari expressed concerns that the benefits doctors are entitled to under the Labor Act have not been ensured and informed that the association has been raising its voice on this issue.
It was also indicated that efforts are being made to reach a consensus in the presidential selection process, and internal discussions are currently underway to nominate Dr. Bikash Gauchan as the new president.
