Nepal Health News, Chitwan –
On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day 2025, an awareness rally was organized in Bharatpur.
The event was hosted by Nepal Health Corps, with participation from MBBS students of Chitwan Medical College and the College of Medical Sciences, along with nursing students from Bharatpur Hospital.
The rally marched through the main streets of Bharatpur, where participants carried placards with slogans such as “Say No to Tobacco, Yes to Life,” “Healthy Society, Tobacco-Free Nation,” and “Tobacco Kills, Stop Today,” aiming to spread awareness among the public.
According to the organizers, the primary goal of the rally was to raise awareness among youth and the general population about the health risks associated with tobacco consumption, and to strengthen the campaign towards building a tobacco-free nation.
The World Health Organization (WHO) observes World No Tobacco Day every year on May 31. This year’s theme is “Unmasking the Appeal: Exposing Industry Tactics on Tobacco and Nicotine Products,” highlighting the deceptive strategies of the tobacco industry and their deadly impact.
With the rising trend of tobacco use among the youth in Nepal, health experts believe such awareness campaigns are crucial and effective. The organizing body, Nepal Health Corps, has also committed to continuing such public health activities in the days to come.
