Miracles are possible in the country with the support of Nepalis: Dr. Ruit

Nepal Health News, Kathmandu – At a program held in North Carolina, USA, Dr. Sanduk Ruit expressed his belief that Nepal can make significant progress if one is dedicated to serving the nation and its people.

Dr. Ruit, who is currently on a visit to the U.S. under the Intraocular Lens Project, said, “If we work without forgetting the soil of our country, Nepal can leap forward.” During his visit, he has also delivered lectures at Johns Hopkins and Brown Universities.

He shared that approximately 8 million USD is needed for the laboratory being constructed in Hetauda under his "Cure Blindness Project," and so far, around 3 million USD has been raised. He expressed hope that the remaining funds would come from the global Nepali community.

At the same event, Nepalis residing in North Carolina contributed around 30,000 USD, with Dindu Lama making a personal donation of 7,777 USD. Lama said, “Helping to restore the sight of others is the greatest virtue in life.”

Dr. Ruit, who mentioned that he has helped restore the eyesight of nearly 180,000 people, also called on the younger generation to preserve values and culture.

During the event, Dr. Ruit was presented with a token of love as an honor and was also granted honorary membership of NCNC (likely a Nepali community organization in North Carolina).

Finally, one participant, Abha Upadhyay, who had regained her sight through Dr. Ruit's work, shared her life-changing experience and expressed heartfelt gratitude with tears in her eyes.
