Meeting of the National Doctors' Association with Prime Minister Oli

Nepal Health News, Kathmandu — The newly appointed central committee members of the National Doctors' Association, Nepal met with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to demand improvements in the health education sector and concessional loans for scholarships. President Prof. Dr. Bibek Gauchan presented eight key points put forward by the association to the Prime Minister.

According to the association’s spokesperson Dr. Arun Upreti, there was also discussion on allowing doctors who have studied under government scholarships to pursue further studies and participate in the civil service examination. Prime Minister Oli agreed with the association’s proposals, stating that such policies are necessary for the development of doctors and to make health services more accessible.

During the meeting, newly elected General Secretary Dr. Samrat Parajuli praised the Prime Minister’s stance regarding the stipends for residential doctors in private medical colleges. Prime Minister Oli acknowledged that residential doctors are full-time professionals and committed to ensuring a minimum wage for them.

The meeting was also attended by former presidents of the National Doctors' Association, the former Vice-Chancellor of Karnali Health Science Academy, and other officials.
