Nepal Health News, Kathmandu – On the night of Thursday, at around 12:30 AM, a verdict was delivered by Judge Dhruva Raj Karki of the Kathmandu District Court regarding the arson incident at a herbal processing center that occurred during a violent royalist movement in Tinkune on Chaitra 15 (March 28).
A criminal case has been filed against 28-year-old Keshav Basnet of Gokulganga Rural Municipality-4, Ramechhap, and 28-year-old Kumar Tamang of Bahrabise Municipality-9, Sindhupalchok, on charges of criminal vandalism and organized crime. Both defendants have been accused of setting fire to government and private vehicles parked at the herbal processing center.
According to the police, Basnet tied cloth to firewood to make a torch and used it to ignite the vehicles. The incident has been confirmed through CCTV footage. He was also caught on camera throwing stones at the CCTV cameras and destroying them.
Similarly, it has been confirmed that Tamang set fire to a cardboard box, which he used to ignite the processing center. The police have also collected video evidence of him throwing stones and vandalizing traffic lights.
Based on this evidence, Judge Karki's bench has ordered both defendants to be sent to prison.
