Nepal Health News, Kathmandu – At a time when various organizations are expressing opposition to the recent report submitted by the Drug Price Policy Recommendation Committee to the Ministry of Health, the Nepal Pharmacy Association has welcomed it, calling it a timely initiative.
In a press release issued on Sunday, the Association stated that developing a pricing policy for medicines is an appropriate response to current needs. According to the Association, the issues included in the report are expected to clarify the state's role in ensuring the quality of medicines, controlling prices, and managing the supply system.
“Pharmaceutical services are a sensitive sector directly linked to the health and lives of citizens,” the statement mentioned, “therefore, it is essential for the government to play a responsible, effective, and accountable role.”
The Association also said it has seriously studied the responses and suggestions from various stakeholders regarding the report and has evaluated them positively.
The Nepal Pharmacy Association emphasized that since the report aims to control irregularities and rising prices in the pharmaceutical sector, equal cooperation and monitoring will be necessary for its implementation.
