Nepal Health News, Kathmandu: The Nepal Health Service Managers Association staged a protest at Maitighar, Kathmandu, on Sunday, demanding permanent positions for health service managers.
According to the association, they objected to the recent Organization and Management (O&M) survey conducted by the Ministry of Health, claiming that it failed to include the positions of hospital managers. The association’s president, Mahendra Raj Bhusal, stated that a permanent structure for managers is essential for good governance and effective service delivery in hospitals. He added that the survey, which only collected data on doctors and nurses, neglected the hospital management system.
During the protest, participants carried placards with slogans such as “Create permanent positions for health service managers through the Public Service Commission,” “Managers are the backbone of hospital administration,” and “Include managerial positions in the O&M survey.”
The association also accused the government of being indifferent to implementing the provision outlined in the Hospital Operation Guidelines, which mandates the appointment of managers in government hospitals with a capacity of more than 50 beds.
