Radiographers' strike suspended, Ministry of Health commits to addressing demands

Nepal Health News, Kathmandu – The radiographers' protest has been suspended after the Ministry of Health committed to including the demands of the radiography sector in the Organization and Management (O&M) survey.

The Nepal Government Radiography Association and the Nepal Radiological Society jointly issued a statement announcing the withdrawal of all protest programs. They have urged all radiographers to return to regular services.

An agreement was reached during a dialogue held at the Ministry of Health on Thursday, which included Health Secretary Dr. Vikas Devkota, Joint Secretary Bhim Prasad Sapkota, and senior officials from both organizations. On that occasion, it was informed that the Ministry of Finance and other related bodies had already instructed to include radiography-related demands in the O&M survey, and the Ministry would move forward with the amendment process accordingly.

Health Secretary Dr. Devkota assured that the Ministry would address the concerns of radiographers and expedite the process as soon as possible.

Damodar Rokaya, president of the association, described the agreement as a significant achievement for the dignity and future of the radiography profession. He stated, “This is not just a policy change, but the result of a long-standing struggle for the recognition and self-respect of the profession.”

According to the statement, today’s success is the result of the collective effort of every individual and student involved in the radiography profession.
