Dr. Rajendra Prasad Pant was appointed to the WHO Tuberculosis Advisory Group

Nepal Health News, Kathmandu — Senior health expert Dr. Rajendra Prasad Pant from Nepal has been appointed as a member of the Technical Advisory Group formed by the World Health Organization (WHO) for the South-East Asia region, aimed at developing strategies and providing advice related to tuberculosis control.

He has been nominated for a two-year term, which commenced on July 1. This advisory group will be responsible for offering recommendations on policy formulation, program planning, and implementation related to tuberculosis control.

To utilize regional expertise, WHO has selected 11 experts from South-East Asian countries. Among them, one will be assigned as the chairperson and another as the co-chairperson.

Dr. Pant previously served as the Director General of the Department of Health Services under the Government of Nepal. Additionally, he has led the National Tuberculosis Control Center as its director for a long time. Due to his extensive experience and contributions in tuberculosis control, he has been successfully selected to this high-level international advisory body.
