Nepal Health News, Kathmandu – Starting from Saun 1 (mid-July), individuals enrolled in the health insurance program in Nepal will be able to receive services from any authorized health service provider across the country.
The Health Insurance Board made this decision to make it easier for insured individuals to access services. Previously, insured people were required to receive services only from a single designated health facility. However, this provision has been changed following recent amendments to the Health Insurance Act, 2074 (2017) and Regulations, 2075 (2018).
From now on, insured individuals can receive treatment from any approved health institution as their first point of contact. This decision, which comes into effect with the start of the new fiscal year 2082/83 (2025/26), is expected to make it more convenient for many citizens to access healthcare services. According to the Board, the move aims to address complaints and simplify the service delivery system.
