Kidney patients to receive Rs. 850,000 in subsidy

Nepal Health News, Kathmandu:The government has decided to provide special financial assistance for the treatment of citizens suffering from kidney-related problems. According to the new provision, kidney patients will be able to receive services worth up to NPR 850,000 through various government programs.

Under this scheme, patients will receive up to NPR 550,000 in aid through the National Kidney Program. Additionally, an extra NPR 100,000 will be available through the Severe Disease Treatment Assistance Program.

Furthermore, patients enrolled in the health insurance scheme will be eligible to utilize services worth up to NPR 200,000.

To access these benefits, patients must be mandatorily registered in the health insurance program. The services will only be provided based on recommendations from hospitals and local authorities.

According to the government, this new subsidy is expected to ease the financial burden of complex procedures such as kidney dialysis and organ transplantation. Hospitals have also been instructed to provide dual support for patients with severe conditions, with the hope that this will make the treatment process more accessible and efficient.
