Nepal Health News, Pokhara: The Gandaki Province government has decided to restructure the administrative framework by dissolving nine government bodies, including the Directorate of Health. The cabinet meeting decided to dissolve seven directorates and two centers, merging some bodies to create a new structure. It is estimated that this will reduce the province’s annual expenditure by about 50 crore rupees.
Specifically, the plan is to restructure the Provincial Health Directorate, Training Center, and Supply Management Center related to the health sector to enhance service coordination and efficiency.
The Provincial Tuberculosis Control Center will also be merged with the Provincial Public Health Laboratory to form an integrated center.
According to Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey, this decision will eliminate administrative duplication and make services more effective. However, some health workers and experts have expressed concerns that this might affect training and medicine supply. The government has stated that it will evaluate the impact of this decision in the coming days.
