Nepal Health News, Kathmandu:The 33rd Annual Assembly of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) was held on Monday at its office in Kathmandu. The meeting passed several important decisions related to academic, administrative, physical infrastructure, and financial matters for the fiscal year 2082/83 (2025/26).
The assembly was chaired by Minister for Health and Population and Pro-Chancellor of NAMS, Pradeep Paudel, and was attended by high-level officials including Dr. RP Bichha, Member of the National Planning Commission; Health Secretary Dr. Bikash Devkota; and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bhupendra Basnet.
According to Vice-Chancellor Basnet, a budget of NPR 4.12 billion has been approved for this fiscal year.
The meeting also gave in-principle approval for preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the ongoing NAMS expansion project in Duwakot, Bhaktapur.
Additionally, the assembly decided to confer degrees to 178 graduates of various levels from NAMS during the upcoming convocation ceremony.
The proposal to adjust the cost-of-living allowance for healthcare workers and staff was approved, along with the decision to increase the number of teaching positions in several hospitals, including Bir Hospital, Nepal Police Hospital, Paropakar Maternity and Women's Hospital, Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Teku, Kanti Children’s Hospital, Bharatpur Hospital, and Koshi Hospital.
