Nepal Health News, Kathmandu: Minister of Health and Population, Pradeep Paudel, has stated that preparations are underway to bring 55 basic hospitals — which have been completed and handed over to local governments into operation.
Responding to queries from lawmakers during a meeting of the House of Representatives, Minister Paudel informed that efforts to operate the hospitals are progressing based on cooperation among all three levels of government.
He also mentioned that there are plans to bring other hospitals that have already been handed over into operation as well.
Currently, arrangements are being made to deploy necessary doctors and medical equipment to these hospitals.
Minister Paudel clarified that some hospitals cannot be immediately brought into operation due to incomplete processes. According to him, although some buildings appear complete from the outside, they are facing delays due to pending handovers, incomplete construction, or legal complications.
He further informed that the hospital in Narainapur-4, Banke, has been fully constructed and will soon begin providing services after its handover. In addition, he stated that the operational guidelines for hospital management have already been approved.
