Infertility Management Service Operation Guidelines, 2025

Nepal Health News, Kathmandu – The Ministry of Health and Population has, for the first time, approved the “Infertility Management Service Operation Guidelines, 2082 (2025 AD)” to ensure the systematic operation and regulation of infertility treatment (IVF) services in Nepal.

Approved through a ministerial decision, the guidelines aim to ensure the quality, transparency, and safety of infertility treatment services.

Under the leadership of Health Minister Pradeep Paudel, the ministry prepared the guidelines following in-depth discussions with relevant experts. According to the ministry, with the approval of these guidelines, IVF services in Nepal including associated laboratories, human resource management, and the sensitive processes of sperm and egg donation will now be more systematically managed.

Dr. Saroj Sharma, Head of the Quality Measurement and Regulation Division of the ministry, stated:
"Infertility is not just a health issue; it also involves social and psychological dimensions. These guidelines will ensure the rights of both recipients and donors, and hold service providers fully accountable. Anyone who fails to comply with the guidelines will face strict legal action."

Ministry spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki said:
"Infertility problems have been increasing in recent times. However, concerns were raised regarding the quality and procedures of service-providing institutions. Many couples were at risk of being deceived. These guidelines will make the services safer, more reliable, and better organized."
