Health Insurance Board Signs Service Agreements with 26 Hospitals in 22 Local Levels

Nepal Health News, Kathmandu – As part of the expansion of the Health Insurance Program, the Health Insurance Board has signed service agreements with 26 new hospitals across 22 local levels.

According to the amended version of the Health Insurance Act, 2074 (2017), each local level must have at least one health institution designated as a service provider. In line with this provision, the Board has enlisted these hospitals and signed service agreements based on the requests from respective local governments.

These new hospitals will now operate as primary service points under the Health Insurance Program. The agreements have been made in accordance with the Health Insurance Regulations, 2075 (2018).

With the addition of these new service providers, the number of primary service points across the country has reached 417, and including referral centers, the Board has now listed a total of 502 health institutions.

As a result, health insurance services are now available in 376 local levels across the country.

According to Information Officer Bikesh Malla Thakuri, this step will help insured individuals access quality healthcare services conveniently within their own village or municipality.
