Nepal Health News, Kathmandu – Minister for Health and Population, Pradeep Paudel, has decided to provide Ayurvedic Swarna Prashan drops to enhance immunity in children.
Experts say that mixing Swarna Bhasma (gold ash) with ghee and honey and administering it in drop form helps improve children's immunity as well as their physical and mental development.
Minister Paudel has approved guidelines through a ministerial decision to provide these drops to children across the country aged between 6 months and 5 years. Last year, Minister Paudel had announced plans to introduce such a program to boost children’s immunity.
According to the ministry's spokesperson, Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, the program will initially be launched through 25 Ayurvedic health institutions across the country. He added that there are plans to expand the program to all Ayurvedic institutions nationwide in the coming year.
“This is an important step in protecting public health through the promotion and application of indigenous Ayurvedic technology,” he said.
To promote Ayurvedic medicines and treatments, Minister Paudel has also arranged for domestic producers to obtain the international GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certification, which will support their efforts to export products abroad.
Producers maintaining high-quality standards for Ayurvedic products will be able to obtain this certification from the Department of Drug Administration.
According to Minister Paudel’s Secretariat, the new national budget also includes the launch of a citizen health program in all local levels across the country.
