Nepal Health News, Kathmandu: Professor Dr. Govinda KC, who has long been advocating for reforms in the medical education sector, has announced that he will resume his hunger strike starting Bhadra 15 (August 31).
Recently, the government decided to increase the number of student admission seats in private medical colleges. Opposing this decision, Dr. KC had urged the government to withdraw it. However, since the decision remained unchanged, he has now announced an indefinite hunger strike.
There has been criticism that instead of increasing seats in private institutions, the government should focus on expanding seats in public medical colleges. Dr. KC has previously staged several hunger strikes and protests demanding reforms in medical education.
