Customs duty exemption on medicines worth over 10 million for cancer patients under 19

Nepal Health News, Kathmandu  The Government of Nepal has decided to provide full customs duty exemption on the import of medicines and health supplies used in the treatment of cancer in children under the age of 19.

According to a notice published in the Nepal Gazette, the exemption has been granted on the import of health supplies received free of cost by the Management Division of the Department of Health Services through the UNICEF-supported GPC SCM project fund. The imported supplies are worth USD 3,051.67 (approximately NPR 400,000) and EUR 79,813.60 (approximately NPR 11.3 million).

This decision by the government is expected to help reduce the cost of treatment for children suffering from cancer and ensure timely availability of medicines.
